THOUGHTS: GENERAL QUESTIONS

You’ve identified that your thoughts are your greatest concern or that your thoughts are very difficult for you to cope with.

1. Next, do your best to identify which type of thought process is presenting you with the most difficulty. Or, identify which problematic thought process you most frequently engage in. (Click on one of the options below.)

2. I struggle with self-critical thoughts. (This includes thoughts like “I’m not good enough,” “I never do anything right,” “I never look good enough,” “I’ll always be alone,” or “I’m worthless.”) Go to THOUGHTS: SELF-CRITICAL.

3. I struggle with anxious thoughts. (This includes worrisome and fearful thoughts about circumstances that might happen to you or others in the future, such as “I won’t be able to cope if something bad happens.”) Go to THOUGHTS: ANXIOUS.

4. I struggle with intrusive thoughts. (This includes thoughts or images that are invasive, disturbing, and often beyond your control, such as thoughts about bad things happening, memories of traumatic events, or other disturbing images.) Go to THOUGHTS: INTRUSIVE.

5. I struggle with racing thoughts. (This includes thoughts that appear very rapidly and are hard to follow, make sense of, or talk about.) Go to CHECKLIST: BIPOLAR DISORDER.

6. I have difficulty concentrating, focusing, or paying attention. Go to THOUGHTS: CONCENTRATION.

7. I sometimes have very strange or odd thoughts or beliefs. (This includes thoughts that you sometimes float outside your body, that you’re watching your life as if it were a movie, or that there is more than one identity (“multiple personalities”) inside your body, or beliefs that strange or supernatural things are happening to you, that you have superhuman abilities, that you’re missing memories, and so on.) Go to THOUGHTS: STRANGE.

8. I often have thoughts about death or dying. (This includes thoughts about dying, killing yourself, or making plans to kill yourself.) Go to THOUGHTS: DEATH.

9. I often have suspicious thoughts about others. (This includes thoughts about other people’s loyalty to you and thoughts that other people are trying to hurt you in some way.) Go to THOUGHTS: SUSPICIOUS.

10. I’m struggling with a deteriorating memory that’s beyond normal forgetfulness. Plus, I have other serious cognitive problems, like difficulties naming familiar objects or making plans. Go to CHECKLIST: DEMENTIA.

11. I have hallucinations. (This includes seeing, hearing, smelling, or tasting things that other people cannot perceive.) Go to THOUGHTS: HALLUCINATIONS.

12. None of these statements describe my problem. I’d like to explore other symptoms. Go to PRIMARY QUESTION.
