EXAM COPIES

New Harbinger books are straightforward guides to a number of subjects important in undergraduate, graduate, and professional curricula. If you’re a professor or instructor interested in adopting a New Harbinger book for classroom use, you have several choices for obtaining exam copies.

  • You may simply purchase the book directly from New Harbinger at the cover price and review at your leisure. Remember that all New Harbinger books are guaranteed unconditionally for as long as you own your copy. If you decide the book isn’t right for your class, simply return it to us at any time for a full credit or refund.
  • You may fill out the exam copy request form. Please note that requests submitted over the Web must be shipped to an institutional address.
  • You may also submit your request to us on institutional letterhead by fax or mail. Please be sure to include the book title and ISBN for each copy you request. Requests for exam copies to be mailed to residential or other non-institutional addresses must be submitted by this method. (Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for delivery outside of the US.)
    • Fax to: (510) 652-5472 or mail to:
      Exam Copies Requests
      New Harbinger Publications
      5674 Shattuck Avenue
      Oakland, CA 94609
When we receive your request, we’ll send you the book to examine along with an invoice due sixty days from your order date for the cover price plus applicable tax and shipping charges.

Once you’ve examined your book, you have three options:

  • Return it to us for credit against the invoice;
  • Pay the invoice and keep it for your personal use; or
  • Fax or mail us your invoice along with a written statement on institutional letterhead confirming that you have chosen to adopt the book. Please include both the title of both the book and the course in your statement. We’ll credit your invoice for any book you adopt for classroom use, and you may keep your exam copy at no charge as a desk copy for the course. If you request more than one exam copy on an invoice, any books on the invoice you don’t adopt must be returned or paid for by the invoice due date.

Please note that all requests for exam copies made on our Web site must be shipped to an institutional address. If you need an exam copy shipped to your residence or another non-institutional address, you must submit your exam copy request to us in writing on institutional letterhead by fax or mail.

New Harbinger reserves the right to limit the number of exam copies sent to any professor or instructor in a single academic year.

DESK COPIES

New Harbinger will provide you with one desk copy of any title you adopt for a class per term in which that title is ordered for classroom use.

Please submit your request in writing on institutional letterhead by fax or mail. Note that your bookstore is not required to order the book directly from New Harbinger publications; orders placed through wholesalers also qualify for desk copies. We will ship your desk copies on receipt of your completed request. Desk copies do not incur shipping charges. Please provide the following in your request:

· Title and ISBN number (if known) of the book requested
· Name of course the book has been adopted for
· Approximate number of enrolled students
· Complete and accurate shipping address

If you have adopted a New Harbinger book for a large class, you may need desk copies for several instructors or section leaders. In consideration of this, New Harbinger will provide one additional desk copy for each thirty copies of a single title ordered during a term.
