Visualizing A Brand New You As the countdown to a new year begins people everywhere inevitably begin to focus on ways to make their lives better in the year to come. Kirwan Rockefeller, author of Visualize Confidence: How to Use Guided Imagery to Overcome Self-Doubt, says that whether it’s getting a new job, starting an exercise program, finding your soul mate, or getting a raise, the power to make your dreams come true lies in your own hands. “According to Henry Ford,” says Rockefeller, "Whether you believe you can or believe you can't, you're probably right. Whether you consciously realize it or not, you carry around in your mind blueprints and images of the person you think you are, and of the person you want to become Mentally rehearse your desired goal. Mental rehearsal helps you anticipate surprises and determine solutions in advance. 2. Define your destination. Use creative visualization and all your senses to "see, feel, or hear" what your final outcome looks and feels like. 3. Act "as if." Act as if you already have achieved or reached your desired goal. This sets up a dynamic mind-body connection that brings into alignment your attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, motivation and action. Before you know it, you'll have achieved what you set out to accomplish. The bottom line, according to Rockefeller, is that the best way to succeed at your resolutions, at New Year or at any time during the year, is to believe that you can be the person of your dreams. “If you ‘see’ yourself in the new job, in a loving new relationship, having more money, or getting the raise, you'll act with greater confidence.”
