Dear Friends,
2013 is here. This year is already very special to me, because New Harbinger is celebrating its 40th anniversary of publishing powerful, evidence-based psychology resources for mental health professionals and self-help books for clients. We have several new professional books to add to your library.
One of the most rewarding aspects of working in the mental health field is helping people to live healthier, more fulfilling lives. To support this effort, modalities such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), have given us the tools to treat a variety of disorders—especially those rooted in emotion regulation issues.
To add to our growing line of DBT books, this month we are publishing DBT Made Simple, a comprehensive, easy-to-use professional guide that will help you better utilize DBT in your sessions with clients. This book goes far beyond the four DBT emotion regulation skills. It shows how and when to implement key interventions, such as chain analysis and the validation-change dialectic, in session. If you’ve struggled with implementing DBT in therapy, this book is a must-have resource.
Like you, my passion as a therapist has always been to help people make positive changes. My hope is that our books are helpful to you in your endeavor to do the same. As we turn 40, our continued mission is to provide you with the most effective, evidence-based tools for your practice.
I wish all of you health and success in the New Year.
Sincerely,
Matthew McKay, PhD, Publisher
