This is an inspiring book, in 4 discrete sections. The section about using the Sanctuary gives a unique concept for dealing with grief without getting lost in a huge ocean of feelings. The thing about this is that you (and the grief) get the message of having a specific time to let the feelings happen fully..... but then, to come out and re-enter daily life. For those who are just previewing online, you don't get the scope by looking only in the first section -- this book offers a lot of useful insights, but in a very distilled way. People immersed in grief can read a key set of pages and get specific suggestions to work with where they are (whether newly grieving, or processing unfinished business with a lost spouse or parent, etc.) This book has helped me, but is also a great gift. I feel glad to know I have this to give -- a valuable resource rather than just a sympathy card.

As a therapist that specializes in dealing with healing the effects of trauma and undoing the patterns developed from how we survived; I can't recommend this simple and profound book enough. Alexandra's many years of experience in guiding people through the overwhelming and lengthy process of grieving is distilled into clear steps and manageable processes that facilitate the honoring of each person's individual journey. The author's words, suggestions, reflections, and wisdom go right into the heart of the pain and lead the way back to acceptance and wholeness.
